Some years ago I developed the philosophy that in order to do excellent work one needs excellent tools. I love to cook, and only use the use the best knives, cutting boards, pots and pans. So when I had the opportunity to try the BE Living Circlad series of pans, I was intrigued.
The first thing that I noted as I was unboxing the pans was the weight. Not too heavy to easily manage and lift, but heavy enough to feel like I’m dealing with something substantial. There are two pans in the set, a10” and a 12”, which are two of my favorite sizes for cooking dishes. There are numerous concentric circles inside both pans, I assume for heat conduction. The handles are solid, fit comfortably in my palm, and are securely riveted to the body of the pan. The set is described as compatible with gas flame, electric and induction stoves. As I only have gas in my house, I can only review its effectiveness with that.
The instructions are simple- wash I warm soapy water, dry thoroughly. I heated it up over a medium to low flame, added a high smoke point oil and went to town.
I was thoroughly impressed. My onions sautéed evenly, my chicken pieces browned quickly with a delicious crust. The food came out perfect, with a finish that felt both professional and effortless.
Clean up was a breeze as well. I let the pan cool off then washed it in warm, soapy water again. Every last bit of food washed off in seconds. I dried the pan, put it away but now it’s part of my regular rotation.
Instructions are to use wooden or silicone spoons and spatulas, as metal can scratch the finish. Heat the pan slowly, let it cool before washing. All very basic cookware instructions. I can see that if I will treat this pan well, it will return the favor, and I expect to have years of use ahead of me.
At the current price of $189 for the two pans, this is not an inexpensive purchase, rather an investment in a top notch kitchen. I do believe they’re worth every penny, and I would buy them again in a heartbeat.
